Office Hours Episode 119

Substrate sizes, consistency considerations, re-vegging, ripening, & much more!

Let’s get growing!

For this week’s section, we mixed things up with Jason and Cian driving the on-air conversation while Seth took to YouTube to drop his insights in the comments – and the growmies had lots to talk about! From tips on substrate size and keeping crops consistent, to shedding light on soaking substrates, rooting in, and ripening and so much more, the education was flowing!!

Dig into a few of our favorite quotes from the show, don’t forget: there’s still time to vote for AROYA for the Emjay Awards’ “Cultivation Technology of the Year category – show us some love!

The Importance of pH Monitoring

"pH obviously should be something that I like to check at least, you know, three times a week during the flower cycle. Mostly there, I'm just looking to make sure that it's not doing anything too weird because that is a great indicator of nutrient imbalance." – Jason

Start Out Strong

"If my plants do not get good rooting right off the start and are not uniformly sized right off the start, I will not have a uniformly strong canopy and canopy height across my room." – Cian

Choosing Substrate Size

“We want enough substrate that those roots have access to water but we're able to steer the crop as far as what our ECs are doing, we're able to do everyday irrigations for most of the plant cycle, especially most of the flower there. And that just really helps us make sure we are getting fresh oxygen, fresh nutrients in there and not allowing those roots to stagnate.” – Jason
