Dial in your light, stage by stage
Daily light integral is the total usable light your canopy receives in a day. Set your PPFD and photoperiod to find your number, then see how AROYA tracks it for you around the clock.
Understanding DLI
What is DLI?
Daily light integral, or DLI, is photosynthetic photon flux density, or PPFD, multiplied by your total light hours. Expressed in moles of light per square meter per day, it reflects how many photosynthetically active radiation photons your plants actually get over that period.
What affects DLI?
Light intensity and photoperiod drive the calculation. The angle, intensity, and distance of your fixtures from the canopy all shift the PPFD reaching your plants, so DLI moves with them.
What happens when DLI is too low?
Plants cannot photosynthesize enough to support the growth you are steering for. Low DLI produces weaker plants and leaves yield on the table.
Under 8 MOL/M2/D
What is an ideal DLI range?
It depends on crop stage. Clones and early propagation need far less light than a canopy in mid flower, and CO2 enrichment shifts the targets upward.
8 to 50 MOL/M2/D by Stage
What happens when DLI is too high?
More light is not always more yield. Past a point, high DLI creates plant stress, hinders growth, and burns energy you are paying for.
Over 50 MOL/M2/D
Real impact
Consistent growth and healthy yields
Hitting the right light level lets plants photosynthesize effectively, which is what robust growth and healthy yields are built on.
Energy spend that matches plant need
Managing DLI lets you balance energy use against actual plant growth instead of overlighting by default, which can bring operational costs down.
Faster canopy development
Light management is a quality lever, not just a yield lever. Adjusting DLI to the plant's needs can affect cannabinoid and terpene profiles in the finished flower.
Even canopies, fewer surprises
Measuring PPFD across the canopy and tracking DLI over time shows you how evenly light is distributed and whether every plant is getting the right amount.
The AROYA difference
Light data that never sleeps
This chart gives you a snapshot from one set of numbers. AROYA gives you a continuous feed from the canopy itself, so you can see drift as it happens instead of finding it at harvest.
Accurate across any fixture mix
The AROYA DLI sensor is a full spectrum quantum PAR sensor measuring the entire 400 to 700 nm range plants use for photosynthesis. Different lights emphasize different parts of the spectrum, so readings hold up whether you run LED, HPS, metal halide, or a mix.
