Office Hours Episode 85

Live from MJBizCon!

Steering crop conversations every week!

We’re still riding high from an awesome week at MJBizCon! Not only did we drop three new products – the TEROS ONECLIMATE ONE, and AROYA GO – but we also had amazing conversations and meetups with old friends and new! And speaking of old friends, shout out to our special guest Tyler Simmons who came through repping Front Row Ag and dropped tons of wisdom on a show packed with goodness!

Check out these nuggets of wisdom:

Learn From Light Stress

“In general, if you're seeing some stress from too high of PPFD, I think there's a very good chance that you're just underfeeding. During this period of time, especially stretch the plant's metabolizing nutrients at  a prolific rate. It's growing as fast as it's going to at any point. It's putting on the most biomass, so you just have to give it enough fertility for it to be able to do that.”

A Sign to Feed More

“If you're looking at your runoff PH and you start to see a significant rise over time, that's a pretty good sign that nitrate might be getting depleted in your substrate and is another indicator that you just need to feed more. There's exceptions to that rule, but it is a good kind of general rule, is that as nitrate is absorbed and depleted, your PH is going to rise. So keep an eye out for that. It's a good kind of convergent value to figure out what's going on.”

Pore Water EC vs. Runoff

“The substrate, the plant, the irrigation system – these are all soluble minerals. Basically, when we say a salt, we're just talking about a soluble mineral. There's different sources for those minerals, there's different grades. And in general, you want to pick a supplier that's using the highest grade soluble minerals that you can so that not only is it pure, but it's consistently pure over time.”
